Leading change doesn’t come with a playbook.

You know what needs to change.
You’re deeply connected to
why it matters.

Yet most of us don’t get a playbook for the messy, human-centered how of leading change inside organizations and systems designed for the status quo.

  • How to foster alignment, build buy-in, and get change to stick in the face of competing priorities and resource constraints.

  • How to work with resistant paradigms and people who don't move just because the data says they should.

  • How to sustain yourself when the work you've dedicated yourself to is increasingly polarized, and the headwinds have never been stronger.

And underneath all of it, the harder question we are all grappling with: how do we carry the weight of this moment, stay grounded in our purpose, and hold steady in the conviction that our movement will endure — without burning us out.

Leading change is a science...and an art.

You’ve been trained in the science—environmental and social systems, technical solutions, data, and reporting. It’s what you’ve spent years mastering.

But the piece that actually makes change stick is deeply relational—it’s the human side of systems change.

This is the art of being an effective change leader, and it's the part most sustainability and social impact professionals were never formally taught.

After 20 years in sustainability working with companies like Dutch Bros Coffee, Google, and MGM Resorts, I’ve learned that while technical expertise gets you in the door, the most complex part of leading change is navigating the humans within the system.

That’s why I created The Change Leadership Lab — a learning laboratory and community-building space for sustainability and social impact change makers to build their capacity to lead systems change more effectively.

My approach is grounded in human-centered change leadership, a practice that most impact programs overlook.

Hi, I’m Lindsey.

What is human-centered change leadership?

Human-centered change leadership is a practice rooted in the understanding that leading change requires systems intelligence and human intelligence in equal measure.

It’s about understanding the system you are in, the humans within it, how to engage with them effectively, and how to solve problems with them—collaboratively.

You are also a human within the system. Your self-awareness, presence, and resilience shape everything you lead.
